No final Auburn coaches show after Iron Bowl
The company that produces the Auburn football coaches program has notified the television stations that carry it that it will not produce a program following the Iron Bowl, the annual clash between Auburn and Alabama. The email went to station general managers and program directors who expected the program would be produced.
“Auburn Football: Everyday” is produced by the Auburn IMG Sports Network and features Head Coach Gene Chizik. It has been widely speculated that Chizek may not be retained at the end of the year. He has three years remaining on his contract. The team is suffering its worst season in 60 years.
The email, from Drew Walker, Asst. Executive Director of Video Production reads, “We have decided not to run a 13th Auburn Football: Every Day show which would be the post Alabama episode. We felt it best to inform everyone now to give folks time to find a way to fill in that time slot. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me. Thanks.“
WRBL General Manager David Hart says he has emailed Walker, asking who made the decision to cancel the program and if Auburn officials were involved in the decision making process.
Chizik is expected to be asked to respond to the development at his weekly afternoon news conference.
