Blog: Auburn vs. Vanderbilt Notes
Auburn looses Vanderbilt 17-13.
What we know:
•Is Gene Chizik’s job in trouble? Large masses of the Auburn fan base are calling for changes.
•Will Auburn move towards the future and increase the role of Jonathan Wallace at quarterback? For the first time Saturday they let him throw a pass, but so far Wallace has only been used to run the wildcat.
•Phillip Lutzenkirchen’s playing days at Auburn has come to a sad end. Lutzenkirchen had a phenomenal career, and it is a big loss to this team. Lutzenkirchen had been battling a hip injury.
•Up next for Auburn is a home game with Texas A&M.
Report Card:
•Offense: F
Vanderbilt gave Auburn chance after chance, but the Tiger offense was never able to really take advantage.
•Defense: C+
Holding a team to 17 points isn’t bad, but in back to back weeks after taking the lead the Tiger defense has allowed a quick drive and score going into the half.
•Special Teams: C+
Not one, but two kick catch inference penalties.
The Numbers:
Passing:
Clint Moseley completed 14 of his 20 passes for 98 yards.
Vanderbilt’s Jordan Rodger’s completed 15 of his 25 passes for 173 yards.
Rushing:
Tre Mason rushed for 85 yards on 16 carries and one touchdown.
Onterio McCalebb rushed for 39 yards on 8 carries.
Vanderbilt’s Zack Stacy rushed for 169 yards, and broke the Vanderbilt all time career rushing record.
Receiving:
Emory Blake had 47 yards receiving on 4 receptions.
CJ Uzomah saw his first action reeling in two passes for 23 yards.
