AUBURN - Le’coe Willingham and the Seattle Storm got the second half of the season off to a thrilling start with a 111-107 triple overtime win over the DeWanna Bonner and the Phoenix Mercury last Wednesday.

The game was just the fifth triple-overtime game in the 14-year history of the WNBA. The 111 points is a season-high for the Storm and also tied a franchise record. In the win, Willingham passed the 1,000-point mark in her career as the Augusta, Ga., native contributed six points and five rebounds. Despite the loss, Bonner recorded her 11th double-figure scoring game of the season as the 2009 SEC Player of the Year scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and two assists.

After winning at Phoenix, Seattle pushed their franchise-record winning streak to nine games on Saturday with a 73-71 victory over the Minnesota Lynx. Willingham had eight points, six rebounds and two assists.

Following the 2-0 week, Seattle improved to 18-2 on the season, which is the best record in the WNBA by five games.

The Phoenix Mercury had a busy week with three games, posting a 2-1 record. The Mercury defeated the Los Angeles Sparks 98-89 on the road Tuesday before falling to the Storm the following night. The Mercury finished the week with their third win in four games when they defeated the Tulsa Shock 97-88 on Saturday.

In the win at Los Angeles, Bonner finished the night with 16 points, three rebounds, two steals and one block. In only 19 minutes of action against Tulsa, the former Tiger standout had six points, three rebounds, two blocks and one assist.

Willingham is averaging 5.7 points and 3.8 rebounds on the season and is leading Seattle among players who have attempted at least 30 shots on the season with a 51.7 field goal percentage.

Bonner has played in all 20 games for Phoenix this season and the Birmingham, Ala., native is averaging 11.7 points, 6.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.0 blocks.

The Seattle Storm will try to continue their push toward a Western conference championship with a pair of games this week. First, the Storm will finish a three game road trip when they travel to San Antonio to take on the Silver Stars Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. CT. Seattle will conclude the week when they welcome the Tulsa Shock to Key Arena Sunday at 8 p.m. CT.

The Phoenix Mercury will look to continue their winning ways with a pair of road games this week. First, Phoenix will travel to Tulsa to take on the Shock at 7 p.m. CT, Thursday. The Mercury will then visit Minnesota for a 7 p.m. CT, Saturday matchup with the Lynx, who are a half game behind Phoenix in the Western Conference standings.
