Auburn back to practice field after Georgia loss

AUBURN – The Auburn football team returned to the practice field Sunday night for a light practice session. The Tigers (6-4) practiced in helmets and shorts for an hour as they began preparation for this Saturday’s Homecoming game against in-state rival Samford (6-4).

Coming off a tough loss at Georgia, the Tigers will return home for its final two regular-season games, against Samford and Alabama. Auburn defensive coordinator Ted Roof said it was good to get back on the practice fields to correct the mistakes from Saturday.

“It is always good after a loss to get back out there and correct it on the field,” said Roof. “To be able to spit it out, a loss is always harder to spit out because it cuts so deep.  At the same time we have got to be able to move forward and as a coach it is a fine line. “

Despite the loss, Roof said he was pleased with the energy and effort from the team as they move forward to the next game.

“The energy was good. We all understand what yesterday was, we saw it on the big screen,” said Roof.  “We are moving forward and focusing on how we are going to get it fixed for some football next Saturday and get our next win.”

With Monday as the regular off day, Auburn will be back on the field on Tuesday evening to continue preparing for Samford.

Auburn and Samford will kick off at 12 p.m. CT, Saturday at Jordan-Hare Stadium in Auburn, Ala. A pay-per-view broadcast will be available in the state of Alabama to cable subscribers and small dish owners who subscribe to DirecTV or Dish Network.
